Result - 'Slippen' apartment

These are the current Vacancies in 'Slippen Apartment' for 2011

Finally, 'Slippen' is completed and ready for its first season. It has been a long eighteen months but the results are really worth it. We've shown a lot of people around the apartment and they have, without exception, been very impressed.

Essential Dimensions:- 'Slippen' is all on the ground floor and has its own private entrance into the kitchen which is 7ft wide and just over 11ft long. A door leads into the large sunny lounge which is 11ft wide and over 15ft long with a 12ft wide bifold thermal reflective glass window with internal venetian blinds overlooking the patio and garden outside. A door leads into the large light and airy bedroom which is 12ft wide and over 13ft long. There is an ensuite bathroom over 4ft wide and 9ft long, and a walk-in wardrobe which is 4ft square.

The Garden and Patio

'Slippen' is south facing and enjoys its own small private garden, bounded by low granite walls and pittosporum hedges. Opening the twelve feet wide bi-fold patio doors, you step out onto a 'Blue Ice' flagstone paved patio enclosed by a blue and green stained wooden arbour, making a private outdoor living space. There is a sturdy stone barbecue with chimney and also lighting installed overhead in the arbour to enhance and extend the use of the patio. In the planters at the base of the arbour uprights are a Wisteria macrostachya 'Blue Moon', a Jasmine officinale and a creamy yellow Honeysuckle which will give shade and perfume when they grow bigger. Diagonally opposite the patio, across the grass, is another small raised curved-edge gravel patio with table and chairs which is partly shaded during the morning by a large corkscrew willow tree.

The Kitchen

Stepping through the front door into 'Slippen' you enter the spacious kitchen with its modern white and natural wood finishes. The floor is laminate wood flooring and the worktops are natural wood. There is a ceramic hob, double oven with grill, washer/drier, fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The window has a lovely view of the garden with Corkscrew Willow shading the small semi circular patio on the far side (the evening sun is nice here), fuchsias and lawn. A door opens into the lounge. Artwork in the kitchen is provided (appropriately enough) by Stephen's giclee print 'Slippen on the Sand' which was part of his first series of giclee prints produced in Spring 2006.

We provide a basic Vodafone mobile phone with charger (top-up vouchers can be easily purchased from the Co-op)and a wall mounted 'booster' to ensure that coverage is 3 - 4 bars throughout the kitchen and lounge though a little less in the bedroom. Please note that Vodafone is probably the most reliable mobile phone network on Scilly although one or two others offer patchy coverage.

The Lounge

The lounge is carpeted in a subtle chocolate, cream and grey-blue striped carpet and the feature wall has been painted a soft blue. Inset into it are the flat screen digital TV and DVD player, modern electric fire with flickering log effect and remote-controlled convector heater and bookcase. There is a cream leather sofa and two cream leather chairs which can both recline and swivel so guests can face either the TV and fire in the evening or open up the bifold patio windows, turn the chairs around and enjoy the patio and garden in comfort. There is a square dining table and the comfortable dining chairs have soft blue plush seats. You can enjoy your meals while looking out into the garden or watching TV. The bookcase holds a selection of leisure reading, some Isles of Scilly literature and games such as Scrabble and backgammon. Artwork in the lounge is provided by two large original oil paintings by Nan Heath, both featuring trees.

The Bedroom

The bedroom is large, light and airy, furnished in restful shades of cream, gold and brown, with solid wood furniture. The bed is 4ft 6" wide and made up with sheets, cream cellular blanket, 4.5 tog summer quilt and embroidered comforter. Guests will find both feather and synthetic pillows on the bed. More pillows together with an electric blanket can be found in the wardrobe while a spare blanket is in the under bed drawer. The bedroom has a radiator which is on our central heating system together with a wall mounted electric convector heater. A sumptuous cream leather swivel chair is provided for relaxation and a desk with wall mounted swing arm lamp allows reading or writing in comfort. Artwork in the bedroom is provided by Stephen's large original watercolour "Looking Up into the Tree Canopy' which is hung over the bed (this is a vertical view directly up into one of the trees in Old Town Churchyard) and 'Pelistry Blackberries', a new giclee print.

The Bathroom

The white bathroom is spacious and fresh with a golden beige non slip floor surface. It has an extra large walk-in shower with double doors and the shower tray is mounted virtually flush with the floor. The bathroom is equipped with grab rails in the shower enclosure, on both sides of the toilet and the shower also has a drop-down wall mounted seat for less able visitors. There is a small but powerful wall mounted unit to pump the water away from the shower tray. Artwork in the bathroom is provided by Stephen's giclee print 'Buddleia' which was part of his 'Scilly Seasons' Exhibition at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in April 2009.
