'SLIPPEN' is our delightful ground floor apartment and accommodates two people. Light and spacious, 'Slippen' is fully equipped for the comfort and convenience of our guests. The private garden makes it a haven of peace and quiet.
'Slippen' has its own private entrance on the ground floor, separate from the main entrance to the building, illuminated after dark by a light powered by an automatic infrared detector. The door leads straight into the light modern kitchen with wood floor and white units. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, separate freezer, microwave, four ring halogen hob, electric oven with grill, Zanussi compact dishwasher and Hotpoint combined washing machine/tumble dryer. There is a Vodafone Pay-As-You-Go mobile phone for guests use (vouchers can be purchased in Hugh Town) and guests will also appreciate the rechargeable wall-mounted torch for spring and autumn evening walks.
A door from the kitchen leads into the very spacious sitting/dining room which has wonderful 4 metre wide bifold doors, enabling the whole wall to be opened out onto the blue-stone flagged patio with stone-built barbecue and private garden outside. Outside, through the gate off the patio, is a private three arm rotary clothes dryer for the use of Slippen apartment guests. There is a square solid wood table with three chairs, a cream leather two seater sofa, two cream leather reclining bucket seats with a matching footstool (another footstool is in the bedroom), adjustable modern standard lamp and coffee table. The sitting room has a wall mounted 32" flat screen TV with remote control and DVD player and a wall mounted decorative stainless steel and glass electric fire with convector heater and remote control. A small bookcase offers a selection of paperbacks, games and Isles of Scilly literature.
From the lounge, a door leads into the light and spacious bedroom, furnished in calming colours of cream, caramel and gold. There is a substantial solid wood double bed and deep sprung mattress The bed is made up with a combination of crisp sheets, cellular blanket, duvet and embroidered bedspread. There are two feather/down pillows and two synthetic pillows on the bed. In the underbed drawer, guests will find a thick soft cream acrylic blanket. There is a large walk-in wardrobe with a drop-down luggage rest, high shelves, and an iron/ironing board/laundry bag/peg bag. A double electric blanket can be found in the wardrobe along with two further pillows. The bedroom has pine bedside cupboards, a large three drawer chest, a desk/dressing table with three drawers (containing a hair dryer with concentrator nozzle and a small sewing kit) and adjustable wall mounted brushed stainless steel light, there is a cream leather bucket chair with matching footstool and a full length wall-mounted mirror. This cosy room has central heating but also a supplementary wall-mounted electric convector heater.
'Slippen's bathroom is decorated in subtle shades of white and cream with a rose brocade Roman blind over the window which has an automatic extractor fan (activated by the main bathroom light). There is a toilet, washbasin with useful cupboard underneath and shelf above with overhead shaver light and The large stainless steel towel airer is part of the main central heating system. The low-profile walk-in shower is very large and has half height double doors with full length shower curtains. The shower is thermostatically controlled and has a large rain shower head.
