Glandore is an imposing detached house in its own large garden, protected by tall pittosporum hedges. Built in the late 1930s of concrete blocks made from fine Pelistry sand, it towers to four storeys - one of the few detached properties of this height on Scilly - which makes it a distinctive landmark. Its cream walls and soft terracotta roof tiles give it a distinctive Mediterranean appearance.
Porthloo beach is only fifty yards away from the house (looking west for wonderful views of sunset over Samson), the beach path into Hugh Town runs past our gate and Hugh Town itself is only fifteen minutes walk. There is excellent local provision for eating out at Juliet's Garden just up the hill or 'The Beach' restaurant five minutes walk along the beach path. There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants in Hugh Town itself together with a Co Op for shopping. There is no facility for bringing private cars to Scilly but there is the option of hiring a road legal golf cart from the 'Scilly Cart Company' and we have plenty of space for parking and charging your 'Scilly Cart' here at Glandore.
