"This was painted in late July 2008, a time of year when many stone walls are smothered in flamboyant Mesembryanthemums. This house, " Moyana " looks out southwest over St Marys Harbour towards the Garrison and beyond towards the Bishop Rock. The walls flanking its entrance gate cascade with bright pink mesembryanthemums grown from plants originally bought from my wife′s plant sale table. South African in origin , they don′t like frosts but do well in the Scillies mild climate, being perennial rather than annual.
