As many of you will already know, we are retiring, selling Glandore and moving back over the sea to Cornwall. We've been on Scilly since 1981 and Steve's connection with the islands goes back to 1965 when Frank and his sister, Gwen, bought Glandore as a private house and converted it to Glandore Guest House. Nan joined them in 1970 when she married Frank and moved to Scilly. When we joined them, it gave Nan more time to paint and they opened Nan Heath Studio 4 in the Barn Studios in 1990.
While running Glandore Guest House full time (12 guests, dinner bed & breakfast from March to October, 24/7 - no days off!), we brought up our children on Scilly (both their arrivals involving emergency helicopter airlifts to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro) but they are both adults now and living on the mainland. So we decided this was the right time to retire and hand Glandore over to new owners who can take it forward into the future.
We intend to take a short break after our move, suspending our online shop until the beginning of December when we will reopen ready to take Christmas orders. We will still be contactable through the email address at the top of this page and, although Glandore Gallery will be closed, Stephen hopes to continue with his painting (once we have recovered from the process of moving!) and maybe find other independent galleries in the south west who would like to stock his work.
We'd just like to close by thanking all our friends, guests and customers who have been with us on our journey over the last forty two years. .
