“Autumn Shells on Newford Island”
Watercolour with some pastel
Painted September 04 on a bright breezy morning at high tide, a few showers in the air, but I am on the sheltered side of Newford Island. The island is uninhabited, except for an old bathing hut. It is connected to the main island of St Marys at low tide by a sand bar. My house is only a few yards away, so I come here to paint quite a lot. When I returned on my last day to finish this picture it was high tide and I had to wade out to get onto the island. You get a wonderful feeling of peace and isolation being alone on an island, I hope that shows in the painting. |
