This was painted with ink and a little watercolour in 2018. Some find graveyards a little unsettling, but I love them and this one at Old Town has a special peace and beauty. I've painted in here many times. There is the obvious entropy associated with this subject, but that is not the reason I included it in this exhibition. I was attracted by the sunlight that cast a beautiful luminous golden light on the stones and the lichens that grow on them. They can live a long time and I find them fascinating. They love the clean air of Scilly and I see them on the rocks by the sea, on trees and locations like this churchyard.
