"Agapanthus Fading" Artist: Stephen Morris
"Time" Exhibition at 44AD Gallery, Bath, UK, November 2021

Watercolour painting on paper | Dimensions: approx 36 inches wide by 29 inches tall | £1000 (GBP 1000)

The is the second of my pair of large watercolour Agapanthus paintings, showing the life and cycle of an agapanthus flower. This one shows the full bloom followed by the subsequent decline of the flower. Look again for the bees who are persistent to the end. I prefer the opening of the bud and this latter stage, to the blowsiness of the full bloom. The silvery sheath around the forming seed pod shimmers ghost like in the misty low light of morning and late afternoon. I've used an irridescent liquid to try and show this. If you move around this original painting you can see it in different lights.
The final seed pod offers the promise of new life.
